what is PCOS?

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder that affects the ovaries. It's characterized by an imbalance in reproductive hormones, particularly elevated levels of androgens (male hormones) in women. These elevated androgens can disrupt the menstrual cycle and lead to symptoms such as irregular periods, ovarian cysts, acne, excessive hair growth (hirsutism), and weight gain.

While PCOS can be challenging to manage, with proper medical care and lifestyle adjustments, many women can effectively manage their symptoms and lead healthy, fulfilling lives. Our holistic treatment plans work to target several areas of wellness at once to alleviate PCOS symptoms and help you feel balanced again.

The exact cause of PCOS is not clear but most evidence points to abnormalities around insulin function.

our pricing & process

All prices are subject to change without notice. Prescription prices are variable and are not included in our costs. For more information on pricing, please contact us directly.

  • To get started with our program, all you have to do is book an appointment here (note: this step incurs a $50 new patient start-up fee.) The new patient appointment is done virtually for accessibility and convenience, allowing us to serve patients across Canada.

The purpose of this appointment is to assess your eligibility for the program, equip you with introductory materials, and provide you with a blood testing requisition form.

  • Your blood work can be completed at a Dynalife or any other lab that is convenient for you. We recommend this testing be completed at least one week prior to your first visit (two weeks for patients outside of Alberta.) Please notify our team about all incoming blood work results.

  • In your initial appointment will comprehensively assess your specific PCOS symptoms and develop a specialized plan tailored to you and your body!

Your progress through this program will be under the medical supervision of our team of Nurse Practitioners and Medical Doctors.

  • Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is simply the measurement of the time in between your heartbeats. This is often confused with average heart rate, but some beats of your heart will be slightly more or less time apart. This variation tells us a great deal about how your body is managing stress and maintaining full-body homeostasis.

HRV is a well-studied phenomenon and relates directly to the health and activity of your nervous system. For those suffering from PCOS, checking your HRV is a must to see how you can best support your body.

  • We recommend that patients complete a food sensitivity panel for best results with our PCOS program, though it is not required* it does come highly recommended.

Food sensitivity results take 2 weeks to be reviewed. Testing begins at $325 for the LifeLabs Basic+ panel.

  • The ongoing nature of PCOS means that a month-by-month structure is necessary for us to ensure optimal symptom management and supervision.

Your monthly fee will cover any appointments for prescription renewals, a monthly check-in with your PCOS specialist, ongoing support, plan adjustments, and any additional bloodwork required to monitor your body.
